Biodata ~ biographical information
Sonata ~ a type of art music originally known also as a dance

Biodata Sonata is a staged exploration of the dancer and their corporeal biodata. Applying sonification in a choreographic creation has been the work’s starting point. Sonification is a process by which measured information can be experienced audibly. The creation is a dialogue between three dancers and nine inertia movement sensors that measure information about the dancers' movements, through which bodily histories become visible, movement transforms into sound, and corporeality becomes audible. Biodata Sonata is a danceable set of questions about the relation between human and technology in a time, where the measurement and interpretation of information are emphasized. The multisensory creation aims to bring out the bodily and layered know-how of the dancer.

The sound design, as well as the reactive visualizations, of the work are created live from the data measured of the dancers' movements. Sonification can enrich the multisensory experience of art and challenge the creators of art and science towards something new. Biodata Sonata was created in collaboration with the Sonic Move project.
